PHP 스쿨은 지난해 전략적 제휴를 통해 데브피아, 자바누리와 연합하며 약 50만 명의 회원이 활동하고 있는 공개 SW 개발자 커뮤니티다.
이번 계약을 통해 PHP스쿨은 1월 2일부터 레드햇이 제공하고 있는 레드햇 엔터프라이즈 리눅스 관련 교육과정을 비롯해, SOA 구축을 위한 미들웨어 플랫폼인 제이보스 교육과정을 판매할 수 있게 된다.
또한 레드햇코리아는 PHP 스쿨과의 지속적인 협력을 통해 PHP스쿨에 가입한 개발자 회원들을 대상으로 교육 세미나와 신기술 웨비나를 개최하고 기술 업데이트 정보에 대한 뉴스레터를 발송하는 등 다양한 공동 마케팅 활동을 전개하여 개발자 커뮤니티 활성화에 나선다. PHP스쿨의 대학생 개발자 및 리눅스 사용자들에게는 인턴십 프로그램도 제공하여, 공개SW 분야 전문 인력을 적극 양성할 계획이다.
레드햇코리아는 국내 공개SW 저변을 넓히고자 리눅스 및 제이보스 분야에서 30여개의 교육과정을 운영하고 있다. 전체 교육과정은 크게 레드햇 엔터프라이즈 리눅스 시스템을 구축, 운영 및 관리할 수 있도록 하는 ‘리눅스 과정’과 오픈 소스로의 마이그레이션을 도와 SOA 구축을 용이하게 해주는 ‘제이보스 미들웨어 과정’으로 구성되어 있다.
