이번에 구성된 서비스 전담팀은 이러한 서브스크립션을 구매 하지 않고, 레드햇의 상표(트레이드마크)가 삽입된 RHEL 및 제이보스를 무단으로 사용하는 상표권 침해 실태를 파악, 국내 기업 고객들의 오픈소스 비즈니스 모델에 대한 인지도를 제고시킬 계획이다. 또한 고객들을 대상으로 서브스크립션을 연장 또는 갱신했을때 누릴 수있는 혜택과 신청 방법 및 고객 보호를 위한 오픈소스 보증 프로그램 설명이 담긴 공문을 발송하여 상표권이 등록된 레드햇 제품의 무단 사용으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 피해를 사전에 방지하고 안정적으로 IT 인프라를 운영할 수 있도록 할 예정이다.
오픈소스 기업 들의 보편적인 수익모델인 ‘서브스크립션’은 일정 기간 동안 정해진 요금을 지불하며, 계약 기간 동안 출시되는 최신 버전의 소프트웨어를 추가 비용 없이 제공받을 수 있어 유지 관리 및 신규 제품 구매에 대한 비용 부담이 없는 것이 특징이다.
