岡田元治、以下リンク)とレッドハット株式会社(東京都渋谷区、代表取締役社長 廣川裕司、以下レッドハット)は、Red Hat Enterprise Linuxをベースにサーバの貸し出しサービスを行うホスティング業者向けのパートナープログラムであるプレミアホスティングパートナー契約を、アジア地域で初めて締結いたしました。プレミアホスティングパートナーは、月間利用料ベースのホスティングサービスに適合させるため月額ベースのサブスクリプション契約が可能なレッドハットのホスティングパートナープログラムの中で最も大規模かつコストメリットの大きい販売契約です。
リンクは2005年にレッドハットと最初のパートナー契約を締結し、株式会社エーティーワークス(富山県富山市、代表取締役 伊東孝悦)と共同で運営するAT-LINK専用サーバ・サービス(以下、at+link)において、Red Hat Enterprise Linuxを積極的に推奨・活用してきました。最初の契約から3年間でRed Hat Enterprise Linuxで運用するサーバ台数は5,000台に達しています。今回のプレミアホスティングパートナー契約締結により、at+linkの主力サービスである専用ホスティングとIP電話サービス（BIZTEL・ウェブ電話）を中心にRed Hat Enterprise Linux およびオープンソース・ソフトウェアの活用をさらに促進し、2010年には、このOSで運用するサーバの台数を現在の2倍の10,000台へ拡張する計画です。
一般に、低価格のホスティングサービスにおいて提供されることの多いフリーOS にはOS提供元からの正式なサポートがついていないため、各ホスティング業者からの独自サービスを受けることになります。そのためOS提供元からの十分な開発情報の共有やサポートのスキルが伴わない場合も多く、セキュリティが保証されているとはいえないのが実状です。リンクでは、Red Hat Enterprise Linuxの提供元であるレッドハットとのパートナープログラムを活用し、開発元の技術情報やスキルを最大限利用することでセキュリティが確保された信頼性の高いサポートを提供しながらも、実際のユーザにとってはRed Hat Enterprise Linuxの利用価格が無償となるサービスモデルを開発し、2008年3月現在、2,500社・8,100台超の契約を有しています。
今後両社はプレミアホスティングパートナー契約に基づき、技術共有や共同マーケティング活動を一層強化し、ホスティングサービスでのRed Hat Enterprise Linuxのさらなる利用拡大を目指します。リンクでは、今後もRed Hat Enterprise Linuxを核としたセキュアで低価格かつ安定したサービス基盤を確立し、仮想化などの最新技術を取り入れつつ、先進・安全かつ安定したホスティングビジネスを推進してまいります。
