昨年2013年、日本経済が回復する兆しを見せ始めた中、日本IT市場においてオープンソースソフトウェア（以下、OSS）はクラウド・仮想化の追い風に支えられ大きな市場拡大を遂げました。その中で、レッドハットは創立20年を迎え、Linux OS 事業に並ぶ新たな事業の柱である JBoss ミドルウェア事業、仮想化事業、クラウド事業、ストレージ事業の強化が図れたとともに、次世代 IT・クラウドコンピューティングの管理の核となる OpenStack 関連製品を始めとした新製品の投入を積極的に推進できた年でもありました。その結果、グローバルそして日本市場においても2桁成長を達成することできました。
いまや OSS がクラウド、ソーシャルネットワークそしてビッグデータの利活用の中核技術として、IT革新をリードする時代となったことは間違いありません。弊社の大手エンタープライズのお客様において、国内のミッションクリティカルシステムは勿論、海外向けのオーダー・マネジメント・システムや海外子会社・関連会社・提携企業との連携を図った標準化IT基盤として Red Hat Enterprise Linux（RHEL）および Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Server（JBoss EAP）などの採用が進み、日本企業の「グローバル化」や「データセンターのモダナイゼーション・技術刷新」に貢献しました。さらに Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization や Red Hat Storage によりサーバー・ストレージの仮想化による「IT基盤の効率化・低コスト化」が進み、JBoss ミドルウェアの新製品であるビジネスプロセス、ルール、データベース仮想化、データグリッド、メッセージングなどを駆使した「ビッグデータの活用」の成功事例も次々に登場し、OSSが企業の目指すITイノベーションに、大きな力を発揮することを証明した年となりました。
2014年は OSS が、さらに本格的に普及する年になると考えています。その中でレッドハットは、3つのテーマ「ビッグデータの活用」「100％ クラウドレディなソリューション」「データセンターの刷新とコスト削減」でエンタープライズ企業の攻める経営・事業成長や、政府官公庁のIT革新を支えて参ります。
