In the ever-evolving world of IT management, staying ahead of the curve is essential for businesses aiming to remain competitive and efficient. Today, we are excited to announce the launch of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes 2.9, which will expand how you manage your clusters, streamline governance and enhance GitOps processes.
Here are some key highlights.
Fleet management
Nutanix UI support: We believe in flexibility and options. That's why we are introducing UI support for Nutanix as an infrastructure provider. This means you now have the freedom to choose Nutanix when creating clusters from the Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management console. The expansion of supported infrastructure and hypervisors provides you with more choices, enabling you to tailor your clusters precisely to your needs.
Node disk-wiping with ZTP: Say goodbye to manual node preparation with our Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP) process, now equipped with node disk-wiping capabilities. This feature automates the setup process, significantly reducing manual intervention and providing a more efficient and seamless cluster provisioning experience.
Hosted control planes general availability (GA): Hosted control planes, now in its GA phase, is accessible for both bare metal and OpenShift Virtualization providers, with the AWS provider remaining at Technology Preview. With hosted control planes fully operational and optimized, you can enjoy cost savings and reduced infrastructure footprints for OpenShift Virtualization and bare metal environments.
Global Hub - Global Policy view (GA): Manage your clusters effortlessly with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management's Global Hub, which offers expanded visibility across a global fleet of clusters. The multicluster global hub operator 1.0 GA provides insights into policy compliance status and trends, helping you stay on top of your managed clusters and managed hubs. The new home dashboard simplifies managed cluster inventory scenarios.
Spoke cluster initiated registration: Adding and managing clusters in a large-scale edge environment has always been challenging. Now, individual clusters can request to join and register themselves with a Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management hub, simplifying the process of deploying clusters that are factory built and then deployed out to an edge site.
Governance
informOnly remediation: Gain better control and consistency with informOnly remediation. This feature lets you decide when to take action and when to simply gather information or raise awareness within nested policies or rules. It's all about having the power to choose the right course of action for your organization.
Gatekeeper operator uplift to 3.11.1: Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management stays up-to-date with the latest developments by upgrading the Gatekeeper operator to version 3.11.1. This keeps Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management aligned with the upstream project, so users can benefit from the most recent features and bug fixes.
Policy view design customization: Now, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management allows users to customize the design and content displayed in the policies dashboard, providing flexibility tailored to individual needs and roles. In the future, we plan to introduce custom columns for further personalization.
Improvements for selective policy enforcement: Enjoy the flexibility of enforcing policies selectively on a subset of clusters where they are applicable. This feature supports controlled and phased roll out of policies, allowing you to apply changes to specific clusters while leaving others unaffected, helping you manage changes in a more controlled manner.
GitOps enhancements
UI support for multi-source ArgoCD applications: Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management now simplifies the management of complex applications managed by ArgoCD from multiple sources. You can deploy these applications directly from Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management, and they will seamlessly integrate into the application topology.
Customized service account with GitOpsOperator: Enhance security and customization with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management's integration with the GitOps operator. Create and assign custom service accounts and permissions, giving you greater control over how GitOps are performed while limiting access to specific accounts, helping to improve the security of your operations.
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management helps your business achieve new levels of efficiency, control and IT security in managing your clusters, governance policies and GitOps processes. These enhancements are designed to simplify your day-to-day operations and provide the flexibility you need to adapt to changing requirements.
